Well, this week, I have a new girl, or should I say girls.. that are now part of our life. We have chickens! Yup running free in the back garden.
Very early days, but they are laying eggs, and already part of the family.

Have to say that the more I have learnt, and now in the real world, the more I see, these are a pretty amazing bird.

Pleased to say the girls coped well without us over our holidays and we are lucky to have wonderful neighbours that took care of them for us. The fresh eggs are lovely and the main downside is the state of the lawn and the amazing chicken feet that can excavate all my potatoes?!

The hens are really friendly though

We are keeping an eye on the grass, and if it does become a problem etc, then we will fence them in
